BLU-3 BUILDS ON REPUTATION FOR DATA CENTRE EXCELLENCE WITH DENMARK PROJECT
Infrastructure provider, blu-3, has reinforced its reputation and success in data centre builds having been awarded a portfolio of works packages for a project on behalf of a global social media giant.
Located near Odense, Denmark, the data centre build is projected to cost more than $100 million and create around 150 jobs, with the site covering a 0.5 km2 area. Designed as one of the most progressive facilities of its kind in the world, it will be powered exclusively by renewable energy and will use Denmark’s cold climate to keep servers cool rather than depending on air conditioning.
Gustav Basch, blu-3 Contract Manager, said: “We were awarded this contract as a result of excelling in previous data centre work in Ireland and The Netherlands, which saw us shortlisted to enter the competitive bid process for the Denmark project.
“blu-3 has now established itself as the go-to company for reliably executing complex data centre programmes to tight schedules and with the highest quality. We are pleased to have yet another opportunity to demonstrate our expertise in this area.”
blu-3 was first awarded the substation package, including the internal fit out of the substation RC building and the installation of asphalt roads, transformer bases, hard and soft landscaping and cladding.
The company is also completing the main campus floor package, delivering more than 50,000 m2 of high specification concrete flooring for the data halls and electrical rooms, as well as the concrete slabs for the external generator yards. This is planned for completion in mid-2018 and likely to be followed by additional works packages.
The facility is expected to be operational by 2020 and will include a range of advanced data, logistics and administration buildings to provide connectivity, power and maintenance to one of the world’s leading social media networks.
