BLU-3 ON TRACK FOR PHASE 2 OF GREENWICH PENINSULA PROJECT

Specialist infrastructure provider, blu-3, has been awarded a further works package as part of the second phase of the multi-billion-pound transformation of the Greenwich Peninsula, in London.

The three-month multi-utilities works package will see blu-3 excavate and prepare the site for water, gas, electric and communications installations.

Greenwich Peninsula is currently undergoing huge regeneration by developers Knight Dragon Ltd. The transformation will see more than 15,000 new homes being built, as well as a new mixed-use tube station, schools, offices, health services, public spaces and a unique, purpose-built design district.

blu-3 has a team of eight working on the project to ensure it remains on track to meet exacting delivery schedules.

blu-3 senior project manager, Simon Hughes, said: “Working on the Greenwich Peninsula has been a great experience for blu-3. After initially only being asked to complete some skids for welfare units back in 2016, we have been involved ever since, winning further projects and always completing them within the deadline.

“It is a privilege to work on the site which will be a pioneering, visionary area of London once complete. We have developed some excellent relationships with Mace and other contractors during the past few years and have earned a reputation for delivering high quality work time and time again.”

The latest works package awarded to blu-3 will see the team install five British Telecommunications Plc access chambers and core holes into three basement communication units within each residential tower block being built.

blu-3 will install more than 150 metres of ducting in preparation for assisting Power On Connections with the installation of electric cabling which will be connected to an existing on-site sub-station to provide power to the new residential blocks. Finally, a series of trench lines will be excavated in preparation for the installation of gas and water networks for the residential buildings.
