Challenges and Solutions:

A challenging project in the heart of London’s Kings Cross. Our scope included utility disconnection to allow for demolition works. This was followed by diversion of high and low voltage cables, gas, water, and comms.

Part of these works required us to construct two temporary substations. Our team carried out extensive modifications to the streetscape to facilitate free flow of traffic to site.

The main work of the project could then commence. Our works included installation of a 3.8MVA power supply of approximately one kilometre, under the city. We were then able to connect a primary substation to three new substations in the basement of Belgrove House, also constructed by blu-3 as part of another project.

Our team have vast experience of working in London and were therefore able to plan and programme our works to keep traffic flowing, minimise disruption to shops, offices, residents, traffic, and pedestrians.

Scope of the project:

  • Disconnecting all utilities to allow demolition to begin
  • Diversion of high and low voltage cables, gas, water and multiple communication providers
  • Construction of two temporary substations
  • Extensive modification of adjacent streetscape to allow vehicular access to site
  • Installation of a 3.8MVA power supply spanning 1 kilometre under the city, connecting a primary substation to three new substations in the building basement, also constructed by blu-3
